Adam Church Band
Hailing from the mountains of Boone, North Carolina, the Adam Church Band delivers what frontman Adam Church proudly calls “country music, the Carolina way.” An Appalachian State University graduate and longtime fixture of the High Country music scene, Church has spent more than a decade building a sound rooted in modern country, Southern rock and the mountain-town experiences that shaped him.
Church’s musical story is closely tied to Boone. Inspired early on by fellow App State Mountaineer Eric Church, Adam began playing the local college-bar circuit while attending Appalachian State. It was there that he met a then-up-and-coming Luke Combs. The two began performing together around Boone, and Adam became a member of Luke Combs’ first band, helping record and perform music from Combs’ early The Way She Rides era. Remarkably, Church still performs with some musicians who were part of that original group.
That friendship came full circle as Combs’ career took off. Church opened for his longtime friend at Kidd Brewer Stadium in 2021 and was prominently featured in the music video for Combs’ hit “Doin’ This,” which tells the story of a musician who keeps playing because music is simply part of who he is.
Church has since carved out a career all his own, releasing the 2022 EP Matters More along with songs including “Goin’ Back to Carolina,” “When the Sun Goes Down on a Small Town,” “Blame It On the Backwoods,” “Smokin’ My Daze Away,” “Fan Like You,” and 2025’s “Honky Tonk Back.” His music reflects his Carolina roots with songs about small towns, backroads, honky-tonks and the place he still calls home.
Onstage, the Adam Church Band turns those roots into an energetic, crowd-friendly country show. Church and the band have become familiar faces at venues, festivals and events throughout Boone, Western North Carolina and the Southeast, earning a reputation as a hometown act with a much bigger-stage sound. In 2026, the band was selected to headline the opening concert of Boone’s Roots in the Garden series, while Church also landed an opening slot for Niko Moon at Appalachian State’s Holmes Convocation Center.
From his early nights playing Boone bars alongside Luke Combs to releasing his own music and leading a band on stages across the Southeast, Adam Church has remained firmly connected to the mountains where it all began. Authentic, energetic and unmistakably Carolina, the Adam Church Band brings a live country show built for cold drinks, good friends and a crowd ready to sing along.
